Pavan practices exclusively in all areas of Canadian immigration law. She was called to the Bar in 2005 in both Ontario and British Columbia and has several years experience tailoring strategies to work with clients to achieve successful resolution of their case. Pavan assists clients with a wide range of applications including Labour Market Opinions, Work Permits, Provincial Nomination Programs, Investor Class, Federal Skilled Workers, Spousal Sponsorships, Adoptions and applications based on humanitarian and compassionate grounds.
Pavan also has an excellent track record arguing cases before the Immigration Appeal Division and has successfully concluded judicial review applications at the Federal Court of Canada. Her clients include large corporations as well as individuals and she will be able to provide a holistic immigration strategy that takes into account her client's long term goals. Pavan can also speak Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu fluently and has served clients in each of these languages.
Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Pavan obtained her Bachelors of Arts in International Relations from the University of British Columbia and graduated with distinction in 2004 from McGill University's Faculty of Law with both LL.B. (common law) and B.C.L. (civil law) degrees. Pavan was a member of the McGill Law Journal's Management Board and also served as its solicitations editor. During her time at McGill University, she was also awarded the Montreal Bar Association Prize for the top student in Civil Procedure.
Pavan pursued her interested in international migration law early in her career and has previously worked with the South Asian Human Rights Documentation Centre in New Delhi India, a non-governmental organization with special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Pavan also interned at the International Organization for Migration -- United Nations Observer office in New York City. Pavan has also volunteered for Amnesty International's Refugee Network.
Pavan is currently a member of the executive of the Canadian Bar Association of BC's Immigration Law Section. She is the chair of the CBA BC's sub-committee for the Immigration Appeal Division.
