Ryan will be speaking on a panel titled “The Business of Immigration Law: Managing the Economics and Practice of Canadian Immigration.” The description of the panel is “This session examines the economic and operational realities of immigration practice in an environment shaped by prolonged processing times, rapid policy change, and a more demanding regulatory framework. The discussion explores practical strategies for building resilient practices, including systems and workflows that improve efficiency, client communication, and predictability, while also addressing pricing pressures, cash flow, and risk management. Panelists will consider the professional and financial implications of increased enforcement, including anticipated administrative monetary penalties and the growing impact of misrepresentation findings, offering guidance for practitioners adapting to an increasingly complex immigration landscape.”

Steven will be speaking on a panel titled “Is IRPA’s Misrepresentation Framework Keeping Up with Modern Digital, High-Volume System Processing?” The description of the panel is “This session reviews recent trends in misrepresentation jurisprudence under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, as allegations are increasingly raised across immigration applications. Drawing on recent case law, the discussion examines how decision makers and the courts assess credibility, materiality, and intent, offers practical guidance on identifying misrepresentation risks before filing, and considers the legal and procedural consequences of actual or threatened allegations. Against the backdrop of twenty-five years of IRPA, the session also explores whether the statutory concept of misrepresentation requires greater clarity to ensure fairness and predictability in current decision making.”
